The dentist will talk to you before the surgery and tell you what they will do for you, and about how long it will take. He then will give you anesthesia so that you won’t feel any pain. He will let it set in for about ten minutes; you will start to feel a numbing feeling. It could be scary to hear the tool as the dentist drill into your jawbone to set the screw that will hold your implant in. After this is done, it will take about 3 to 6 weeks for your gum to heal, then you will go back in to have the implants put in place.

Impressions

After the dentist puts the implant into the socket, he then will get an impression of your teeth. They may make you wear a retainer for a while after the implant has been done so that it won’t move. You have to wear it as much as you can, or they may want you to wear it only when you sleep.
